Who is a candidate for PRP?
PRP is considered safe for most patients. However, you shouldn’t get PRP if you have:
- An active infection
- Abnormal platelet function
- Abnormal platelet count
- Abnormally low fibrinogen levels
- Anemia
- Chronic liver disease
- Cancer, or a history of cancer
- Currently on anticoagulation therapy, such as Coumadin, Xarelto, or Eliquis
Be sure to disclose your complete medical history during your initial consultation to determine if PRP therapy is right for you.
