Osteopathic Manipulation Therapy

Osteopathic manipulation is a hands-on treatment that restores alignment, mobility, and balance throughout the body. Using precise, gentle techniques, our physicians identify and correct structural restrictions that contribute to pain, tension, or dysfunction. By improving circulation and supporting the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms, this therapy helps relieve musculoskeletal pain, enhance mobility, and promote overall well-being. At Meeting Point Health, osteopathic manipulation is often integrated with regenerative and functional medicine treatments for comprehensive, whole-body healing.

Is Osteopathic Manipulation the Same as Physical Therapy?

Both OMT and PT are medically supported therapies. Both of these therapies believe that the function of a body’s different systems depends on the underlying structures of that system. Both use movement and physical manipulation as part of their treatments.

However, the biggest difference that sets OMT apart from PT is who is licensed to perform it. OMT can only be performed by DOs, who are fully trained, licensed and practicing physicians. Physical therapists are not medical doctors. Though a physical therapist can obtain a doctorate in PT, they cannot write prescriptions and perform the other duties of a fully licensed medical doctor.

What Can Osteopathic Manipulation Treat?

OMT is remarkable and can treat just about any pain condition. At Meeting Point Health, we commonly treat the following with OMT with great success:

  • Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ)
  • Migraine and headache
  • Sports injuries
  • Dizziness
  • Chronic back pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Musculoskeletal Pain
  • Lyme Arthritis
  • Neurological Mold Illness Symptoms
