Treat your Psoriasis

Meeting Point Health offers a range of holistic, integrative psoriasis treatments for Philadelphia area residents. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder characterized by a build-up of thick, itchy, red plaques on the arms, legs, scalp, and other areas of the body. This happens because a person’s overactive immune system accelerates skin cell growth. Instead of shedding skin cells at a normal pace, they begin piling up on each other, resulting in troublesome and uncomfortable plaques.

We aim to find and address the root cause of your condition to help you achieve optimum health. From light therapy to ozonated water treatments, we can help heal your skin and provide relief from your symptoms.

Psoriasis Vs. Eczema

Eczema and psoriasis can cause red, flaking, itchy patches of raised skin on the arms, legs, scalp, and face. Both conditions may be related to genetics and environment, and there’s no permanent cure for either one. You can even treat them with some of the same topical therapies.

However, eczema is caused by genetics and environment, while psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. Eczema can occur in adults but most often affects children. Psoriasis almost exclusively affects adults and can lead to other inflammation-related disorders, like arthritis.

There are also slight differences in how they look. Eczema usually appears as small, flaky, red patches flush with the rest of your skin. Psoriasis plaques are typically raised, can be pinkish-red to red in color, and can cover large areas of skin.

Psoriasis Treatment Options

Meeting Point Health offers various psoriasis treatments administered by experienced and certified medical professionals in our comfortable medical suite.

The Aerolase Neo is a medical laser that passes through the skin to suppress inflammation and reduce the excess number of blood vessels that create psoriasis plaques. This treatment is safe for patients of all ages and skin types.

Our saunas raise your core temperature without overheating the air around you using infrared light. This light penetrates one-third of an inch into the skin to improve circulation, flush toxins, and reduce inflammation, which is beneficial in treating psoriasis.

Ozone therapy refers to various oxygen-rich treatments proven to improve your immune system, destroy pathogens, and treat autoimmune conditions. The ozone helps kill off inflammation-causing bacteria to soften, soothe, and rejuvenate your skin. For psoriasis, we recommend our ozonated water or oil therapy. We infuse water or olive oil with ozone and then apply it to the affected area.

When to seek Medical Advice for Psoriasis

Psoriasis is more than just skin-deep. Inflammation associated with this autoimmune disorder can also affect the joints and organs, resulting in arthritis and other health complications. Regular health screenings and a comprehensive treatment plan can:
  • Reduce pain and discomfort of skin plaques and aching joints
  • Prevent associated disorders and diseases
  • Improve mental health and self-esteem
The medical professionals at Meeting Point are ready to help you take control of your health, manage your symptoms, and allow your inner radiance to shine. You deserve relief from the unpleasant itching, burning, and general discomfort caused by psoriasis plaques. At Meeting Point Health, we can help reduce your topical symptoms by applying treatments that soothe your skin, restore its elasticity, and reduce bacterial infections that contribute to plaque formation. We can also work with you to improve your immune system through treatments like integrative nutrition, acupuncture, and regenerative medicine. These regimens treat your psoriasis from the inside out by addressing the root cause of your condition.

Meeting Point Health does not accept insurance.

Our practitioners and staff fully understand and empathize with the challenges that patients face as they make financial decisions for proper health care. Our practice is very different from a conventional medical practice in many ways, but the time spent with each patient is usually 30-90 minutes. Visits with a physician covered by insurance generally allow for less than 10 minutes in total! Conventional medical practices that take insurance maintain brief office visits and high patient loads for this reason. We cannot provide the expert care that every one of our patients deserves under those circumstances.

Insurance also dictates the types of treatments and order of treatments patients can receive for a particular condition.

Opting out of insurance allows the patient and the doctor to maintain their medical autonomy, which is imperative to ensure you get the right treatment at the right time and the right dose.

To start your journey to relief, schedule a consultation with our team. During your initial visit, we’ll assess your medical history, perform a thorough evaluation, and develop a customized treatment plan to address your specific needs.
