Dee Custer
Regenerative/Orthopedic RN
Hi! I’m Dee, Dr. Matta’s Regenerative/Orthopedic Nurse. I started my nursing career after traveling to Eswatini, South Africa on a church mission trip in 2008. I returned every year after that until 2012. I was inspired by the tremendous need for not only health care but for basic life necessities for impoverished communities. I earned my ASN at Gwynedd Mercy University in 2013 followed by my BSN at Widener University, and then focused on Pediatric medicine and community health. My experience in conventional medicine as a nurse revealed a serious deficit in the overall care of a person’s well being. Patients with chronic illness were on a merry-go-round of treatments that didn’t seem to resolve the issues, and at times even added to their distress.
I also had personal experience on the merry-go-round health care system. I have a chronic neurological condition and have had multiple brain and spinal cord surgeries. I was slowly deteriorating and while each surgery helped with some symptoms, they also brought further complications. Eventually after my sixth surgery and numerous visits with specialists, I was unable to work. I had difficulty completing activities of daily living and was in severe chronic pain.
A friend of mine recommended seeing the Matta’s at Meeting Point Health. My first visit was amazing and so different from any other experience I had in the medical system. Together, Dr. Matta and Mary Anne focused on every aspect of my symptoms and searched for the root cause. I started seeing Dr. Matta for weekly osteopathic manipulation visits. Mary Anne suspected mold toxicity and developed a treatment plan that included dietary changes, supplements and IV treatments. After about 7 months of treatment, I was seeing improvement in how my body felt. I was so excited when Mary Anne asked me if I would be interested in working as the front desk coordinator. I started working at Meeting Point Health in June of 2022 and recently had an opportunity to become Dr. Matta’s assistant. I never thought I would ever be able to work again, and I am so grateful and privileged to be part of the Meeting Point Health team. My experience with Dr. Matta, Mary Anne and the rest of the team has been life changing. And it’s not over! I continued to feel better as Mary Anne and Dr. Matta fine-tuned my treatment plan with the latest and most effective treatments available.
I believe that the relationships we have with people are vital to our well being and that every person should feel seen, valued and loved. I hope to offer every patient the same spirit of compassion, dedication and encouragement in their healing process that I have experienced at Meeting Point Health.
When I’m not with my Meeting Point family, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I also have a few fur babies that keep me busy. The most important things to me are my family and my faith in God. I’m looking forward to being part of our patients’ healing journey!
